Class Descriptions REV 8/09 All students pay an annual registration fee of $45, $40 for an additional child and a family max of $100 Registration fee & 1st month’s tuition are due upon registration. Additional class discounts available. All classes are 55 minutes in length-except where noted. Monkey's Morning Out Ages 18-32 months 1 day/week: $80.00/month 2 days/week: $160.00/month 3 days/week: $200.00/month This program is designed to develop physically, socially, creatively, and intellectually through hands-on activities, social interaction, creative movement, and stimulating experiences. Monkey's Morning Out provides developmental gymnastics where children learn to follow directions and work together. Developing large motor and coordination skills, body control, spatial awareness, sequencing, and loco motor movements are emphasized. Story time, music, and art activities are enjoyed each morning. My Pal & Me – Ages 20 months to 3 $50.00/month This class is open to all children ages 20 months to 3 years of age and their parent. Very young children explore different ways to move their bodies. Motor skills development is the focus of this class, using age appropriate equipment. Our goals are improved listening skills; follow simple patterning and basic directions, social interaction, movement through exploration and music-oriented exercise. 45 minute class time. Pre-Kinder Monkeys – Ages 2-4 $50.00/month This class is designed for a younger group focusing on creative movement, following directions, and learning to be in a structured environment. Basic gymnastics skills are incorporated into this 45-minute class. Placement is based on individual maturity and skill level. 45 minute class time. Kinder Monkeys – Ages 3–5 $60.00/month Designed to instruct young children basic beginner skills and fundamentals of movement developing fine and gross motor skills as well as self-confidence. Introductory skills will be taught such as forward rolls, 2 feet jumps for vault, walking the low beam, and swinging on the bars. Beginner & Intermiediate Artistic Gymnastics is a progressive sport. Artistic gymnastics is taught from the most basic skills to intermediate level skills before progressing towards advanced level skills. LKNGA follows USAG Junior Olympic guidelines regarding level advancement. Developmental skills are taught on all Olympic events; vault, uneven bars, beam, and floor. Athletes are learning levels one through four from the USAG Junior Olympic program in the beginner and intermediate level artistic classes. . There are prerequisites for each level, which instructors will evaluate for advancement. Starter – Ages 5 & up $60.00/month Level one skills will be introduced such as backward rolls and cartwheels on floor, strength conditioning on bars, balance techniques on beam, and beginner vault skills. Prerequisites: no experience necessary. Level 1– Ages 5 & up $60.00/month Skills at this level include those in Starter class plus handstand roll downs, bridge kickovers on floor, pullovers and back hip circles on bars, and level two skills on beam and vault. Prerequisites: All rolls, cartwheel, handstand on floor, lightly spotted pullover on bars, 2 feet to stand on resi mat, and Level 1 Mount on beam. Level 2 – Ages 5 & up $60.00/month For the advanced beginner gymnast that has achieved all of the Starter and Level 1 skills. This level includes all Starter & Level 1 skills plus these additional skills: progressing to round offs and back walkovers on the floor, handstands on beam, and Level 4 vault. Prerequisites: Handstand skills and bridge kickovers on floor, Level 4 Mount on Beam, Level 2 Vault, and Casts and lightly spotted back hip circles on Bars. Level 3 – Ages 5 & up $60.00/month Intermediate skill levels include all previous level skills plus back roll extensions, front walkovers, back handsprings on floor, cartwheels on beam, and mill circles on bars. Prerequisites: Back walkover and round off on floor, lightly spotted handstand on beam, back hip circle and single leg shoot on bars, and Level 4 vault. Advanced Artistic Advanced level classes offer the opportunity to learn levels four through ten in the USAG Junior Olympic program. It is a prerequisite for the athlete to have achieved and mastered the beginner and intermediate skills to enroll in the advanced level classes. At this level athletes may be considered for Team. Prerequisites: Each level has specific prerequisites, which instructors will evaluate for advancement. Super Stars – Ages 7 & up $108.00/month Advanced skill level includes front tucks, back handspring series on floor, front hip circles on bars, and front handsprings on vault. (Also known as Advanced Artistic) Artistic Gymnastics Team, Pre-Team, Prep-Op and Sharpies Pre Team and Artistic Team are available to athletes by Program Director invitation only. This disciplined sport takes strength, dedication, and focus. Upper levels require year round commitment with a minimum of 4 hours of practice per week and at least 4 competitions. Team tuition is reflective of practice schedule and competitions incur meet fees and coaches fees. Tumbling Classes All tumbling classes require extensive strength conditioning and focuses on floor skills only. Also classes may use the tumble-trak, trampoline, vault, bars, and climbing rope for the advancement of these floor skills. Tumbling Beg/Int/Adv $60.00/month Teaches developmental skills on floor exercise and tumble-trak with emphasis on tumbling. As with artistic gymnastics, tumbling is a progressive sport. Tumbling is performed on a variety of different mats and begins with a simple roll, progressing to flips and twists in the air. There are prerequisites Tumble Monkeys – All Boys $60.00/month This class is designed to develop strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. Many different types of equipment will be utilized such as rope, vault, and strength conditioning on bars. (Also known as Boys Strength & Conditioning) Tramp and Tumble-Ages 6 &up $108.00/month This two hour program teaches beginner through advanced routines for trampoline, double-mini, and rod floor. All athletes will begin by training in the Jump Start program, while learning compulsory routines fostered through USAG. LKN Lightning All Star Cheerleading Cheer Tumble $60.00/month Students will learn the tumbling skills needed to be a successful cheerleader. Progressions will be taught for the backhandspring, roundoff backhandspring and beyond. -Beginner Cheer Tumble will focus on handstands, roundoffs and bridge kickovers. -Intermediate Cheer Tumble will focus on standing backhandspring and roundoff backhandspring. -Advanced Cheer Tumble will focus on progressions after the roundoff backhandspring, such as multiple handsprings, back tucks, layouts and fulls. Lightning Bugs - Ages 3-5 $60/month Your little Lightning Bug will sparkle with her new found cheerleading abilities! The Lightning Bugs are a beginner level, non-competitive cheerleading team. Your Bug will be introduced to the wonderful sport of cheerleading by learning motions, jumps, dances, stunts and beginner tumbling. Lightning Strikes - Ages 6 & up $60/month The Lightning Strikes are a beginner level non-competitive cheer team for the older kids! These cheerleaders will strike out the competition with their amazing new skills in dance, stunts, tumbling and jumps! Lightning Bolts - Ages 14 & under $90/month Same as the Storm except for younger age group and beginner-intermediate level competitive team. Lightning Storm- Ages 18 & under $140/month The LKN Lightning Storm is the advanced level competitive all star cheerleading team. Athletes will learn and compete routines displaying advanced level stunting, tumbling, jumping and dances. Must have roundoff-backhandspring and working on back tuck and layouts to make this team. This team competes in regional and national competitions and will practice a minimum of four hours per week. Boot Camp Fitness Training Like no other workout you have ever done before! DANCE BEGINNER AND INTERMEDIATE Mommy & Me (Ballet & Creative Movement) Mommy & Child explore creative movement with the use of props to stimulate motor skills & child's imagination. This 30 minute class is a lot of fun and introduces your child to movement through song. Kinder Dance (Ballet & Tap) This 45 minute class offers a fun, creative approach to learning the basic fundamentals of Ballet & Tap. Dancing Divas (Ballet, Tap & Pre-Jazz) Ballet promotes the development of grace, poise, and discipline. Tap & Pre-Jazz is a great way to experience musicality and rhythm. (1 hour class) Shining Stars (Tap & Jazz) Students will be challenged every week with a high-energy program to combine various forms of dance styles for Tap & Jazz. (1 hour class) Adult Morning Tap Adult dancers meet once a week for 45 minutes to learn or "refresh" Tap fundamentals in easy combinations, while working on strength, rhythm, and coordination. Jr.-Teen-Adult Hip Hop This 45 minute class incorporates contemporary dance styles (free style, street dance, funk, etc.) choreographed to edited and age-appropriate music. EXPERIENCED DANCERS ONLY Second Year Only students who have taken one year of dance may be considered for this Ballet, Tap, & Jazz class. (1 hour class) Pre-Advanced Only students who have taken two or more years of dance may be considered for this Ballet, Tap, & Jazz class. (1 hour & 15 minute class) | |
